  1. Hi Nathan, those are “moqui marbles.” I don’t know much about them except that they’re iron-based concretions that are found in the Navajo sandstone. They weather out and then collect on the rocks. I’ve never seen remotely so many as in these pics.

  2. Regarding the patterns, I think it’s just wind and water arranging them in low spots on the slickrock. Or it’s aliens.
